Nightguards and Athletic Guards

Do you ever wake up with a tired or sore jaw? Are your teeth sensitive to cold or pressure? Sometimes, you may feel a dull ache in all of your teeth on one side. Have you noticed that your gums are pulling away and receding? Do you snore? These can all be signs of a bruxism habit. Bruxism is the technical term for clenching or grinding your teeth.

One in three people suffer from bruxism, and 10% of those reduce their teeth to nubs. Many people grind or clench their teeth throughout the day. It becomes more problematic at night when you are asleep. In many people, grinding your teeth at night could signify an airway obstruction related to sleep apnea. Continued grinding can damage enamel, wear down teeth, cause jaw pain, cause cold/heat sensitivity and soreness to teeth, irritate gum tissue, neck pain, and headaches. A night guard takes the damaging stress off of your teeth and jaw joint. Night guards are custom fitted for comfort and allow for proper breathing while asleep.

An Athletic Guard is similar to a nightguard in that it is an acrylic mouthpiece specifically designed to fit and protect your teeth and mouth. Athletic guards vary in thickness depending on the sport played and can come in many different colors to support your team’s colors or preference.
